Our Story

Born Out of Faith.
Built for Jackson.

In 2007, while incarcerated, Marcus Landfair received a vision β€” that one day he would own a barbershop and use it to educate, enlighten, and empower his community. Once illiterate at age 24, Marcus dedicated himself to learning and growing. By 2015, that vision became Hopeful Barber Shop, and from that foundation, Hopeful Community Outreach was born.

“God gave me a vision that I would own a barbershop, and I would do things out of it β€” education, enlightening, empowering. When God blessed other people to help me β€” I was illiterate at the age of 24 and I went to prison β€” and look at us now.”

β€” Marcus Landfair, Founder & Executive Director, HCO

“They continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.” β€” Acts 2:42
